Over half of every U.S. household shopped at a "dollar
store" in 1999. An amazing figure, but true. What's
the attraction? Just convenience and low prices in an
efficient, one-stop shop.
The dollar store concept seems "recession-proof,"
according to the trade publication Discount Store News.
Budget watchers and bargain hunters alike shop at dollar
stores for brand-name merchandise that typically retails
for much more at the local department store or supermarket.
Allied Systems, the nation's largest developer of the
independently-owned Dollar Stores, forecasts a bright
future for the business, despite tough economic times
elsewhere.
Allied recently launched a brand new Web site, www.allied-dollar.com
. The site features an online video tour of their flagship
store, details store openings, and shares industry articles.
Interested individuals also can request a free promotional
CD-ROM or videocassette tape from Allied's corporate
office by calling (800) 567-2950
A $65,000 investment buys a Dollar Store owner a carefully
researched site location, a fully stocked custom designed,
new store, owner training, and continuing marketing
and operations help. Allied Systems' Dollar Stores are
not franchised so there are no continuing monthly fees
or royalties to pay.
